The Voice: Why it's important, safe and practical w/ Julian Leeser + Rachel Perkins 

(Hosted by Narelda Jacobs)

Rachel Perkins is an Arrernte and Kalkadoon woman, multi-award-winning filmmaker, and signatory to the Uluru Statement from the Heart. She is the daughter of civil rights campaigner, the late Charlie Perkins who famously led the 1965 'Freedom Ride'.

Julian Leeser was the Shadow Attorney General & Shadow Minister for Indigenous Affair in the Liberal Shadow Cabinet until, on Tuesday April 11, he resigned to campaign for the Voice.

Voice to Parliament Forum

 

Are you wanting to learn more about what a Voice to Parliament actually means?

The referendum on constitutional recognition through a First Nations Voice to Parliament will be held on Saturday 14 October.

Some folks report they are confused about what the referendum means and what they will be voting on.

Engadine Uniting Church and the Bosco Social Justice Group invite you to join them to hear the Uluru Statement, explore how the Voice to Parliament was born and explore the referendum question.

We’ll also hear from local First Nations Elder, Aunty Dolly, on what a Voice to Parliament will mean to her.

All Bundeena and Maianbar residents are invited to The Voice Community Forum in the Reserve Room (downstairs) at the Community & Services Club. The club has requested that those wishing to dine before the meeting make a reservation on Ph 9523 2115. Part of Yes23 Sutherland Shire's Small Halls program.

We have organised an information session and community discussion forum. Guests include Shire resident Corey Smith, proud Ngemba man and lawyer who will answer residents' questions about the Voice, how it will work and what it will mean.

In order to provide fact based information and answer as many questions as possible, we are encouraging you to submit your questions before the meeting. Please email your questions to secretary@bundeenaprogress.org.au before Monday 24 July.
