The question of politics...

We cannot stress this enough. This campaign is NOT political. This is a time to come together on a vitally important opportunity for positive change.

This involves walking together, across social groups and political parties and anything else you can think of.

We welcome ANYONE who wants to work positively toward a YES vote in the Referendum. Our strength is our diversity. We want all political stripes and all sorts of people and groups represented.

We ask our volunteers to leave politics at the door. Don’t play into the hands of the No Campaign by allowing politics to dictate people’s response to the Referendum.

This movement is inclusive and diverse. Everyone is welcome. Absolutely anyone who wants to support The Voice to Parliament can feel comfortable joining in.

By refusing to play into the politicisation, we say that this issue is above politics. It's a time for emotional intelligence, listening and coming together.

FOR VOLUNTEERS

Which brings us to an absolute MUST for volunteers. As volunteers we need to leave politics at the door.

Pop them down when you walk in and pick them up again on the way out. Whatever your politics, be aware that people are watching us as volunteers all the time – talking about politics in front of the public or even other volunteers can damage the campaign.  This is about uniting the country – not dividing it. Don’t play into the hands of the No Campaign by allowing politics to dictate people’s response to the Referendum.

Note: You may be required to state some facts from the political arena from time to time. Do this in a considered and matter-of-fact manner. And remember, there are politicians from political parties  across the spectrum who support the Voice.

ABOUT US

We are a group of volunteers living on beautiful Dharawal Country focussed on community engagement with those seeking a fuller understanding of what is being voted for in the upcoming Referendum.

By walking together in respectful and authentic discussions we can all learn more about:

  • the invitation that is the Uluru Statement from the Heart

  • the background of how this came about

  • what a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament means
