THE QUESTION

A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?

THE PRINCIPLES

  1. The Voice will give independent advice to the Parliament and Government.
     

  2. It will be chosen by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people based on the wishes of local communities.
     

  3. It will be representative of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, gender-balanced and include youth.
     

  4. It will be empowering community-led inclusive, respectful and culturally informed.
     

  5. It will be accountable and transparent.
     

  6. It will work alongside existing organisations and traditional structures.
     

  7. It will not have a program delivery function.
     

  8. It will not have a veto power.

ABOUT US

We are a group of volunteers living on beautiful Dharawal Country focussed on community engagement with those seeking a fuller understanding of what is being voted for in the upcoming Referendum.

 

By walking together in respectful and authentic discussions we can all learn more about:

  • the invitation that is the Uluru Statement from the Heart

  • the background of how this came about

  • what a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament means
